This higher level of expertise enables us to see things others may not. We know when a simple fever could be something more serious. We know how to fix a broken bone so it grows properly to its adult size. We know the proper dosage of medications for children of all ages.
Nationwide Children’s urgent care services provide urgent medical care for children when their pediatrician or family doctor’s office is closed or unavailable.
Urgent care should be expert care. So always call your doctor first and remember we’re here when you need us. And always call 911 if you think your child is experiencing a medical emergency or life-threatening condition. If you think someone is poisoned, call the Central Ohio Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222.

Please bring your insurance card, a list of all medications, vitamins and herbal supplements your child is currently taking, and your child’s current immunization record. Print a Medication Tracking Form.
All patients who come to Nationwide Children’s for medical treatment need to have a signed consent for treatment on file. If a child under 18 comes to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for treatment with someone other than their parent or legal guardian, we need an authorization from the parent or legal guardian to allow them to sign medical consent for the child. The authorization form names someone over the age of 18, chosen by the parent or legal guardian, to seek medical treatment and sign consent for the child. For example, a baby-sitter, teacher or other family member. Make sure that anyone caring for your child who may need to seek medical attention for your child in your absence, has a completed authorization form. Download the consent form here.
Urgent care services are usually covered by health insurance. Many plans, however, require authorization from your child’s doctor for urgent care service. This means you should notify your doctor when you visit us. If you have coverage questions, call the Customer Service department at your health plan.

Nationwide Children’s will send a follow-up report to your child’s doctor to help keep your child’s medical record complete and to assist your physician if any follow-up care is needed.
